What is considered a Dental Emergency ?
If you’re experiencing dental pain, your first step should be a trip to the dentist. However, some dental issues constitute more cause for emergency than others.
Of course, if you think you have a dental emergency on your hands, it’s always a safe bet to visit your general dentist. Here are some of the most common types of dental emergencies that might land you at your local dentist’s office.
Severe pain-
If tooth pain prevents you from eating or has a huge impact on your daily life, it’s time to visit your dentist.
There are many causes for more severe dental pain. A bad cavity could be the culprit, but it could also be because of an accident or even an infection.
Tooth is knocked out/loose or fractured-
A physical injury to your tooth is often cause for a dental emergency, especially if it’s paired with intense pain. If your tooth is knocked out, this is among one of the most serious issues that constitute a dental emergency.
What to do:
Pick up the loosed tooth by their crowns and gently rinse the tooth of any bacteria. Be sure not to touch the roots or remove any tissue. Store the tooth in a safe place and bring it to your dentist immediately.
If your tooth is loose, there’s still a chance that your dentist can save it. They might place a splint or even perform a root canal to rid the tooth of any infection. Visit your general dentist quickly should you experience these issues.
Uncontrolled bleeding-
If your tooth won’t stop bleeding, it’s a serious medical issue. This means that your blood isn’t clotting around an injury. Get to your dentist quickly or visit a local urgent care for prompt dental care.
